Submission period:  1 Sep – 30 Nov 2026

Research Residency period: 2 weeks in 2027 or 2028
Artist Residency period: Any 4–6 weeks in 2027 or 2028

Ubah Rumah Residency is an artist studio on Nikoi Island, a stunning private island in Bintan. Derived from the Malay language, Ubah Rumah envisions itself as a “Home of Change,” inspired by the nomadic culture of the Orang Laut of the Riau islands. At the heart of the project is the Living Studio, activated by each resident through bespoke experiences created for island guests. Ubah Rumah Residency hosts artists from Southeast Asia whose practices engage with the intersection of art, ecology, and hospitality. All artists from or based in Southeast Asia are welcome.

Accommodation and a round trip travel within Southeast Asia will be provided for selected artists.

Selection will take 2 weeks upon closing. Only shortlisted artists will be contacted.
